Kindlr (“Kindlr,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Kindlr mobile application and related services.
Kindlr is a location-based social application for dating and friendship. Use of Kindlr is limited to adults aged 18 and older.
1. Information We Collect
a. Account & Identity Information
When you create a Kindlr account, we collect:
- Email address and password, or Google account authentication details
- Display name
- Date of birth (to verify age eligibility)
- Gender and gender preferences
- Relationship type preferences
- Reputation or engagement signals generated through use of the app
We do not collect government-issued identification.
b. Location Information
Kindlr is a location-based service. We collect and store:
- Approximate location derived from your device (latitude and longitude)
Location access is required to use Kindlr. We do not allow use of the app without location data.
To other users, we display city and state only, never your exact location.
c. Age-Gated Access
Before you can access SMS enrollment or verification screens, we require age verification to confirm you are 18 or older.
d. Profile Content & User-Generated Content
We collect content you voluntarily provide, including:
- Profile photos
- Profile bios
- Prompts and written responses
- Interests
- Messages sent to other users
- Image attachments sent through messages
We do not support voice or video content.
e. Moderation & Safety Data
To maintain a safe platform, we collect:
- Moderation events related to profile content, images, bios, and messages
- User reports of other accounts
- Review decisions made by human moderators
Rejected content is not retained in the system after moderation review.
f. App Usage, Diagnostics & Performance
We collect technical and diagnostic data, including:
- App performance metrics
- Crash reports and error logs (via Sentry)
- Basic analytics related to feature usage and reliability (via Google Analytics)
This data is used strictly to improve stability, security, and user experience.
g. Phone Number & SMS Information
If you choose to provide a phone number for account verification or SMS notifications, we collect:
- Your phone number
- Consent status and SMS preference records (opt-in/opt-out)
- Time-limited authentication codes required for 2FA or verification
We do not store SMS message content or delivery logs beyond the temporary verification codes.
Your phone number is stored encrypted at rest.
We do not send marketing SMS messages. We only send SMS messages that you request, such as when you press a button to receive a 2FA or verification code.
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to a message or contacting support.
h. Subscription & Billing Information
If you purchase a subscription:
- Billing and transaction data is processed by RevenueCat and the relevant app store (Apple App Store or Google Play)
- Kindlr does not store full payment card details
2. How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Match you with nearby users based on location and preferences
- Rank and filter profiles using distance, shared interests, reputation, paid boosts, and superlikes
- Enable messaging and social interaction
- Moderate content and enforce community guidelines
- Respond to support requests and communicate important updates
- Send SMS messages you explicitly request (such as verification or 2FA codes)
- Process subscriptions and manage entitlements
- Monitor performance, detect abuse, and improve platform reliability
Automated systems assist with moderation and ranking, but all bans and enforcement actions are reviewed by a human.
3. Content Moderation & Automated Processing
We use automated tools to assist with moderation, including:
- AI review of profile photos, bios, message attachments, and messages (not real-time)
If content violates our guidelines:
- The content is rejected
- The moderation event is logged
- You are notified
- The rejected content is not retained
Moderation tools do not automatically ban users. All bans, whether initiated by reports or internal review, involve human oversight.
4. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell or rent personal information
- We do not sell email addresses, phone numbers, or location data
- We do not share precise location with advertisers
- We do not allow third parties direct access to user profiles or messages
5. How We Share Information
We share data only with trusted service providers necessary to operate Kindlr, including:
- Supabase (authentication, database, image storage)
- Sentry (crash reporting and diagnostics)
- RevenueCat (subscription and billing management)
- Brevo (email communications)
- Expo (push notifications)
- Heroku (cloud hosting)
- SMS service providers and carriers (message delivery and 10DLC compliance)
These providers act solely as processors and may only use data to perform services on our behalf.
We may disclose information if required by law or valid legal process. We comply with lawful law-enforcement requests.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
a. Active Accounts
We retain account data, messages, and profile content for as long as your account remains active.
b. Account Deletion
When you request account deletion:
- Your profile, messages, photos, and attachments are permanently deleted
- Messages are deleted for both sides
- There is no recovery period
- Deletion is irreversible
c. Logs & Safety Records
- User reports are retained for a minimum of 5 years, or until account deletion
- Moderation and security logs may be retained as long as necessary to prevent abuse and comply with legal obligations
7. Your Rights (California Residents)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and use
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Access a copy of your personal information
- Not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights

8. Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including:
- Encryption in transit
- Access controls and monitoring
- Secure cloud infrastructure
No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information against unauthorized access or misuse.
9. International Transfers
Kindlr operates in the United States. Your information is processed and stored in the U.S. By using Kindlr, you consent to this processing.
10. Children’s Privacy
Kindlr is strictly for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Accounts found to violate this requirement are removed.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated through the app or on our website.
